Lines
Experimental Animation
Software: Cinema 4D, After Effects
"Lines" is an experimental animation about the struggles of an individual in society, namely feeling disconnected and being excluded as the individual work to overcome these struggles.
The inspiration comes from a Chinese poem “Lin-Jiang-Xiam”, which uses natural landscapes to portray Su Shi’s changing mood about his struggles between being himself and his desire of escaping from reality.

"Lines"Concept Art
An important Chinese philosophy concept - Unity of man and nature
(天人合一 ( tiān rén hé yī )), which pursued the discovery of patterns and principles that are associated with social and natural phenomena inspired me to use lines as the main pattern in this animation. Lines symbolises all the principles in the world, while the connection symbol allows me to develop a world formed by horizontal lines pattern.
"Lines"Animatic Storyboards
The loneliness symbol can be seen when the human is found in the lines dessert. However, when the human becomes a line, that also means the different ways of looking at yourself, and the dilemma of keeping the human form or being part of the world.
"Lines" is an important project for me. From the idea to animation productions, all done by myself, where I used Cinema 4D to set up scenes and animated lines. I was also involved in the later stages where I learnt to overcome technical issues and also conveyed my idea about overcoming social struggles.
